Retracing part of my father’s journey during WW2 I travelled alone on trains and shared jeeps from Kolkata to Siligori, through the Himalayas to Darjeeling and Kalimpong and onto Gangtok in Sikkim. Referencing his diary and photographs I searched for the locations looking for vestigial remains.
